A big thanks to everyone who took part in the first August treasure hunt.
Congratulations to our winner who is listed below and well done to everyone else who also solved it.
You don’t have to wait long to try again as there is now a new treasure hunt every fortnight.
And just to put your mind at rest, here is the full solution to the August 1st treasure hunt.
The lines from the original clue are in bold and the explanations are underneath.
Begin from the red bricks that Morgan revived,
'Morgan' refers to William Morgan who rebuilt Tredegar House in Newport with red bricks between 1664 and 1672.
A king stayed here, find where he hid in 45?
King Charles I visited Tredegar House in 1645. He also took refuge at Cardiff Castle in the summer of 1645.
The view from the street there will tell you the news,
Looking at Google street view directly outside Cardiff Castle you can see a newspaper board.
That he who's first mentioned, his birth town you choose.
Gareth Edwards, the former Welsh rugby union footballer is the first person mentioned in the headline. His place of birth is Pontardawe.
You now must aspire to locate a church,
St Peter's Church in Pontardawe is famous for it's tall spire.
The family name of it’s builder you search,
The church was built by Williams Parsons Esq.
A bridge between Ys and the place you will settle,
There is a bridge known as Parson's Bridge which is located between Ysbyty Cynfyn and Ystumtuen.
Is the westerly Y where they dug heavy metal.
Ystumtuen is the more westerly of the two places and was once home a lead mine.
